Isn’t There a Disney Quest Arcade?
Disney Quest was an indoor interactive attraction located at Disney Springs but was unfortunately closed down in 2017, demolished and has been replaced by the NBA Experience attraction. Disney Quest was full of arcade games as well as VR and interactive attractions. Towards the end of it’s life it had become a bit dated but it had floors full of old and new arcade games that you could play for free as part of your admission. It was a lot of fun.
What Can You Expect at Disney World Arcades?
You can expect a different variety of games to play from pinball tables, air hockey and basketball games to new and even retro arcade games. Each Disney World Resort arcade on the list above will vary in size and its selection of arcade games.
The biggest arcades tend to be at the Value Resorts: like the All Star Resorts and Art of Animation but Port Orleans Riverside and the Contemporary also have larger arcades.
Do I need Lots of Coins to Play the Disney World Arcade games?
Coins aren’t required at the Disney World Resort Arcades to play the games. Each Arcade has a dedicated games card machine that you can purchase with a credit card or cash and it will include as many credit points as you choose to purchase.
You can then recharge the card if you run out of points. I have also used the same game card at multiple Disney World resorts in the past too. None of the machines will take coins and they will all require the use of a game card.
How Much Do The Disney World Arcade Cards Cost?
You can see from the photo below that are different cost options for the arcade cards at the game point arcade machines. The more you spend the more points you will get:
$1.00 = 50 Play Points
$5.00 = 250 Play Points + 25 Bonus Points
$10.00 = 500 Play Points + 100 Bonus Points
$20.00 = 1000 Play Points + 250 Bonus Points
$25.00 = 1250 Play Points + 750 Bonus Points
My 7 Favorite Disney World Arcade Games
Here are some of the arcade games I really enjoying playing at Disney World. Please note I am of a certain age and this will become clear when you see my choices.
1. Ms Pacman and Galaga
You will find a Ms Pac-Man/Galaga Anniversary arcade cabinet at a lot of the resort arcades. Originally released in 2001 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of both games you add your credit and choose which game to play. Both are early 80s arcade classics and a lot of fun. I would personally have to pick Galaga over Ms Pac-Man though (just).
2. Pinball tables
You will find a wide a whole selection of different pinball tables across all of the Disney World Resort Arcades. Some of my favorite choices are the Tron Legacy and Star Wars Pinball Tables. On our last trip my son really enjoyed a Guardians of the Galaxy Pinball we found at Animal Kingdom Lodge.
3. Centipede
Another classic early 80s arcade game. You see many trackball arcade games nowadays and this Atari multi-game cabinet is a lot of fun. Missile Command is great but Centipede is my favorite choice on this arcade machine.
4. Space Invaders
You can’t go wrong with some classic Space Invaders so I always indulge when I find it at Disney World. This classic title that was an early arcade smash hit across the world is usually found in most of the Disney World Arcades. Usually in a Space Invaders/Qix multi-game anniversary cabinet.
5. Donkey Kong
I stumbled across this Nintendo arcade machine at Side Show Games at the Boardwalk Resort whilst waiting for a dining reservation at Trattoria Al Forno. I had a few games of Donkey Kong which I am not very good at but always enjoy the game with it famous sounds and gameplay.
6. Daytona Championship USA
Gentlemen Start Your Engines! I found this classic Sega racing arcade game at the Iguana arcade at Coronado Springs resort during our recent Disney World vacation. This is such a fun racing game to enjoy racing against your family members and is one best racing arcade games Sega has produced.
You won’t see this in every Disney World resort arcade but if you do find it then have a few races.
7. Air Hockey
I must not exclude Air Hockey from my list of arcade games as it is always fun to play with the kids and the family. Air hockey can be a great way to kill a little time and have some fun doing so. You will find various types of air hockey tables across the different Walt Disney World arcades.
Disney World Arcade Fun
If you are going to be at Disney World in the near future be sure to check to see if your resort has an arcade. You might not spend a lot of time in them, but they can be a lot of fun and a nice way to finish an evening after finishing your day at the Disney World Parks.
We usually fill up our resort refillable mugs and go play some arcade games before heading to our room to end another day.
