The Best Rain Ponchos For Disney World – Don’t Get Wet in 2024

(Last Updated On: December 13, 2023)

When you think of visiting Walt Disney World you probably think of visiting the Disney parks in the bright hot Florida sun. For the foremost this is true but sometimes the storms pass through causing rain and of course you can get wet on the Disney World Water rides too. With that being said I thought it would be best to share some of the best ponchos for Disney World to protect you from any unexpected weather and the water rides too.

Wet Weather at Walt Disney World

It’s advice that anyone heading to Disney World and hoping to be met by endlessly sunny days should heed, as even though the sun always shines in Orlando, more often than not and without a lot of warning, the heavens can open and you can end up being drenched before you can find a place to shelter from the Florida rain. Rain ponchos can be very useful in the Disney parks.

It’s the reason why Walt Disney World sells rain ponchos. Because weather-wise, they expect the best but they’re prepared for the worst.

The Best Rain Ponchos for Disney World

The rain ponchos at Disney World can be ridiculously expensive, especially if you have your family with you, and having to pay for them out of necessity can put a dampener on an already rainy day in the Disney parks.

That’s why I’ve found the best rain ponchos that you can take with you on your trip to Disney World so that even though you should expect your days at the Disney parks to be filled with sunshine, you can also be prepared for the worst that the Florida weather can throw at you, at a fraction of the in-park price.

Are you ready to follow Walt’s advice too? Then, let’s get started…

1. Anyoo Waterproof Rain Poncho

Anyoo Waterproof Rain Poncho Lightweight Reusable Hiking Hooded Coat Jacket for Outdoor Activities(Grey) One Size

Any rain poncho that you’re going to wear in the Disney parks needs to be light, easy and quick to put on, and comfortable. After all, even though the sky has opened and the air surrounding you has suddenly decided that it wants to be made of rain, it’s still warm and you don’t want to overheat by wrapping yourself in a tight-fitting plastic coat.

Anyoo took all of those factors into consideration when they designed their rain poncho, as fits the Orlando bill perfectly.

Tailored from durable, lightweight ripstop polyester that’s coated in a PVC outer layer, it features a drawstring adjustable hood and side fasteners and is big enough to keep even the largest football player and his backpack dry when the rain arrives.

It’s also baggy enough to ensure that it’s fully breathable and that you’ll stay comfortable and dry while you’re wearing it, and won’t succumb to the ravages of the Florida heat.

The thing that I like it about the most though? Is that it’s made to be reusable, and when the wet weather is over and the sun decides to put his hat back on and come out to play again, you can fold the poncho up and return it to the waterproof bag that it comes in. And when you do?

As it only weighs ten ounces, you can throw it into your backpack until the next time it’s needed and the rain decides to make a reappearance.

Pros

  • Lightweight And Durable – It has been fashioned from ripstop polyester and has been made to be used over and over again, so it’s the only poncho that you’ll need for your Disney World trip. And it’s light too. Once it’s on, you won’t even know that you’re wearing it.
  • Fully Adjustable – The side fastener and drawstring hood are fully adjustable, so you can make sure that the poncho fits you and only you with a couple of quick tweaks and subtle pulls on the hood string
  • Easy On, Easy Off – Open the bag, pull it out, give it a shake and the poncho is ready to wear. Then, when the rain decides that it has put in enough of an appearance for one day, just take the poncho off, roll it up and return to the bag. It really is that simple to use.

Cons

  • Utilitarian Fashion –  It’s a one size fits all poncho that you’ll need to adjust yourself the first time that you put it on.  It wasn’t made to make you look good, or be seen and noticed by the crowds of other poncho-clad Mouseketeers at Disney World, it was designed to keep you dry, and warm when the Orlando heavens open.

2. Vibe Reusable Rain Poncho

Vibe Reusable Rain Poncho Jacket for Adult Men Women - Many Prints Hooded Unisex Raincoat

Vibe has two simple credo’s, “Stay dry in style” and “Save the oceans”, both of which should endear them to any Disney fan. It was this joint philosophy of being eco-friendly while looking good that drew me to Vibe and made me think that they were serious about protecting their customers from the elements without adding to the plastic content of the world’s oceans.

I’m glad I was paying attention because their ponchos could be the rainproof ticket to the everyday Disney World fun that you’re looking for.

As a brand, they make sure that they stress that their rain ponchos are made from ripstop polyester that is then coated in a thin layer of waterproof PVC to make sure that whoever it is that wears one, will be warm and dry whenever Orlando pushes its big rain button.

And when the sun does come out again, just take the poncho off, fold it up and return it to its drawstring bag until you need to use it again.  It’s light, comfortable, and it won’t let a little bit, or a lot, of rain, stop you from having fun at Walt Disney World

Pros

  • Saving The Planet, One Poncho At A Time – The idea behind the creation of Vibe’s eco-friendly, reusable ponchos is one that I can, and have, happily subscribed to. The ponchos are made to be used time and time again and have been fashioned (if Vibe is to be believed, and I can’t find any reason why they shouldn’t be) to last for years unlike some cheap plastic ponchos. In other words, it’s the only poncho you’ll ever need, and by wearing one, you’ll be doing your bit to help prevent further plastic pollution.
  • Fold Away For Another Day –  When it’s time to embrace the sun again, the poncho can be rolled up and returned to its drawstring bag, where it’ll wait until the next time the rain clouds appear. Which in Florida, could be the next day or the day after that, or in two hours’ time. You never know when you’ll need a poncho in Walt Disney World…

Cons

  • They Say It’s Unisex But… – I don’t want to seem like I’m being overly macho or sexist, because I’m really not either of those things, but the designs and color schemes that Vibe use for their ponchos aren’t exactly unisex and won’t appeal to every man, which means that the males on your trip might need to look elsewhere for their rain protection.

3. Saphirose Rain Poncho

SaphiRose Unisex Rain Poncho Jacket Coat Hooded for Adults Women Men with Pockets(Navy)

Straddling the middle ground between a traditional rain poncho and a classic windbreaker, Saphirose’s waterproof Disney life-saving “jacket” combines the versatility of the latter with the looks of the former in a best of both worlds poncho that should appeal to even the most demanding fashionista.

Rather than employing the stereotypical pullover method preferred by most poncho makers, Saphirose’s “jacket” has a front fastening zip, and was designed to be worn more like a windbreaker with an adjustable hood.

It’s made from rip-resistant polyester that’s been coated in waterproof PVC so it feels more like a fabric jacket than a cheap and cheerful plastic “covering”, and was tailored to last for your next twenty or more trips to Walt Disney World.

It’s also quick-drying, so when the rain does stop, you can just take it off and put it away in its convenient and easy-to-carry bag, which is small enough to be thrown into any backpack without adding too much weight to, or taking up too much space in it.

The thing that really impressed me about this poncho though, was the fact that Saphirose was forward-thinking enough to include a pocket that can be opened and closed with its own zipper. It might not seem like much, but when you’re at Disney World and the unexpected happens, a pocket can make all the difference to your day.

Pros

  • It Has A Pocket! – Did I mention the fact that this poncho has a pocket and that it fastens with a traditional zipper instead of being pulled over your head and then secured with side buttons and drawstrings, which means that it’s closer to a jacket than a conventional poncho? I did? Okay, I just wanted to make sure.
  • Forty-One Different Varieties – Saphirose makes their poncho in forty-one different colors and designs, so there’s one to suit every individual dress sense of a style. All you have to do is find the one that you like better than all of the others, and you’ll be fully protected from the worst of the Walt Disney World weather.

Cons

  • Pushing The Budget – The zippers and the pocket come at a premium, which in this case is the price. They’re not the most affordable ponchos and your pocketbook might feel the pinch if you want to outfit your whole family in them, even though it, like you, will know that it’s a long-term investment that’ll last for the duration of all of your Disney World vacations yet to come.

4. Hagon Pro Disposable Rain Ponchos for Adults

Hagon PRO Disposable Rain Ponchos for Adults (5 Pack)

The thing about ponchos is, if you’re not really planning on hiking into the wild and venturing into the great outdoors after you’ve returned home from your Disney World trip, are you going to wear one again? Even if you’re thinking about making an annual pilgrimage to the East Coast House of the Mouse, is it worth buying a reusable poncho if you’re only going to wear it once a year?

That’s why I decided to include a couple of disposable ponchos on my must-have-and-must-pack before you set off the list because the chances are unless you’re at Disney World, you’re not actually going to wear a poncho as they’re not exactly the first that you’ll reach for at home when it starts raining.

And taking that into account, and knowing how crazy the rain can be in Orlando, I figured that the list needed a little Hagon magic.

Why Hagon? Well, their disposable ponchos are literally the thickest that you can find anywhere, and while point three of a millimeter doesn’t sound much, it’s enough to protect you from even the fiercest park downpours. And at the end of the day, that’s all that matters, isn’t it?

Pros

  • Five Pack – Hagon supplies their ponchos in fives, which cost less than a single disposable poncho in the parks. If you’re looking for value for money ponchos, then Hagon is hard to beat.
  • The Beefiest Of Them All – They’re heavy-duty ponchos that are still far lighter than any other rain jacket that you’ll be able to find, anywhere.

Cons

  • They’re Not Exactly Cool – I know, they look like cheap Halloween costumes and you’re not going to win any fashion parades if you have to wear one, but they will keep you warm and dry while you’re in the Disney parks at a pocketbook-friendly price.

5. Ginmic Disposable Emergency Rain Ponchos

GINMIC Disposable Emergency Rain Ponchos for Kids and Adults, Family Pack with 12pack, 4color

The reason why Disney sells disposable ponchos in the parks is that they know that when you buy them, they’re only going to be used in the here and now, and for the rain-based emergency that you could find yourself facing at any given moment.

And they know that the last thing that you’ll be thinking about when you need to make sure that your family is warm and dry is the price tag. But I know how much difference ten dollars can make to your day, and that’s why Ginmic made the list.

Okay, so they don’t look great and they’re basically just thin, see-through plastic blankets that you’ll wear in an emergency to keep you dry while you’re at the parks, but when you get twelve (six adult and six children) ponchos for less than the price that you’d pay for one poncho at Walt Disney World, are you really going to worry about you’ll look like when you’re wearing one?

Besides, everyone else will be in exactly the same position that you and your family will be in, and they’ll all be wearing ponchos too because all that matters is staying dry.

Pros

  • Twelve Pack –  You’ll get two six-packs of ponchos (one adult-sized and one child size) for less than the price of a single park poncho. That’s the kind of deal that no one can afford to turn down or walk away from.
  • Choose Your Color – Each pack comes in three or four colors, so you’ll be able to choose which one suits you best. I know it’s not a lot, but it’s something at least and it might just make you feel more comfortable about having to wear a poncho while you’re out and about in Walt Disney World.

Cons

  • Cheap And Not So Cheerful – They look cheap because they are cheap but that doesn’t matter. They’ll keep you and your family dry, and that’s all that you need to worry about.

That’s entirely up to you. Do you want a reusable poncho or are you happy to outfit your family with disposable ones for your Disney World vacation? Which Color to Choose?

But if they’re only going to be worn once in an emergency downpour, then I’d humbly suggest that you follow the multi-colored poncho path and throw a couple of packs of Ginmic’s finest in your backpack. The choice is yours…

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Do I Need A Rain Poncho For My Disney World Trip?

I get asked this a lot, and the simplest answer is that it rains a lot in Florida, and it’s always warm, so you’ll need a lightweight covering that’ll keep you dry, and is baggy and comfortable enough to let the air circulate around you to make sure that you don’t get too hot in the Florida rain.

How to Look Stylish in a Rain Poncho at the Disney Parks

Everyone who goes to Disney World knows that no one looks good in a poncho, but they don’t care and they wear them anyway because they don’t want to let a little rain get in the way of having fun during their Disney trip.

And trust me, you won’t mind wearing one while you’re at Disney World, as you’ll be too busy soaking up all of the magic that you can to think, or even care about what you look like.
