What Are Disney Refillable Mugs?
Disney refillable mugs are plastic mugs which are a reasonable size (they hold around 12 – 14 ounces). They did have a nice Disney design showing Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto driving into Disney World on their own vacation but new designs such as the one at the top of our article have now been introduced along with some Pixar designs too.
Where Can You Buy Refillable Mugs at Disney World?
You will find Disney refillable mugs in the food court and gift stores at Walt Disney World Resort Hotels. We always get ours when we first arriveat our Disney resort having first dropped off our luggage at our room.
How Much do the Refillable Mugs at Disney World Cost?
If you are on the Disney Dining Plan they are included as part of the package. If you are not on the Dining Plan, they cost a flat rate of $19.99. Previously there was different prices for different lengths of stay but this is no longer the case.

What Drinks are Available?
Hot drinks are available – tea, coffee and hot chocolate. There are also a range of Coca Cola soft drinks available at drinks fountains. These are usually a selection of:
Sprite
Coke/Diet Coke/Coke Zero
Barq’s Root Beer
Fanta
Minute Maid Lemonade
Powerade
Hi C Fruit Punch
The Rapid Fill System
The rapid fill system refers to how the system works. Your rapid fill mug will have an RFID bar code that once activated will last for 14 days. At certain drinks fountains as well once you have filled your rapid fill mug you won’t be able to refill again for two minutes.
How Long Can You Use the Disney World Refillable Mugs?
Disney refillable mugs last for 14 days. If you are staying for longer than 14 days, you will need to see a cast member and you may get this period extended. We have stayed at Disney for 16 – 18 days and never had a problem at the food courts. The only issues we have had is the machines away from the food court where are mugs have timed out.
Can You Bring Back Your Mugs to Disney World?
You shouldn’t bring back old mugs to Disney World. We have never done this as it is a little morally questionable. But we are usually on the Dining Plan anyway and have the mugs included in our dining package. You will probably find that your old Disney refillable mug doesn’t work anyway.
Can I Take My Disney Refillable Mug to the Bar?
If only hey? You won’t be filling them with anything alcoholic at your resort I’m afraid (not at Disney’s cost anyway).
What Happens If I am Staying at More Than One Disney Resort?
You can still use your Disney Refillable Mug as they are valid for the set amount of time and not restricted to the first resort you check in at.
Can You Take Them into the Disney Theme Parks?
Yes, you can take them into the parks at Disney World in fact you often see guests carrying them around the parks and taking them on to the Disney World buses first thing in the morning.

How Do You Keep the Disney Refillable Mugs Clean?
You can rinse refillable mugs in your room but do be aware that your resort food court should have a mug cleaning station where you can give them a good clean. If you are mixing up your drinks like I tend to do (coffee, coke and Powerade) then you need to give them a regular good clean.
Are Disney World Refillable Mugs Good Value?
If you have them as part of the Disney Dining Plan, then just like your dining you have paid for it up front which can mean you don’t need to worry about (which is what I like about the Disney Dining Plan). If you are buying them when you arrive at the resort, then they can be good value as long as you make use of them and you will use them at least six times.
A fountain drink at Walt Disney World resort is around $3.50 so six of them will cost you $21. If you are going to drink more than that at your resort, then the Disney World Refillable Mugs will have some value for your purchase.

Disney Refillable Mug Tips
Here are a few refillable mug tips that we have picked up over the years when staying at Disney World.
Save Your Dining Plan Quick Service Resort Drinks
IF you are on the Disney Dining Plan when getting a quick service meal at any of the Disney resorts make sure you get a bottled drink with the meal. It is included as part of the meal and as you have a Disney resort refillable mug you can use that to have a drink with your meal and save the bottled drink for later. We usually get bottles of orange juice with our quick service meals when eating at our resort and then save the orange juice for when we get up the next morning.
Ice is Wasted Space
If you ice with your soft drinks that is fair enough but the ice is taking up space in your mug which means you are losing some value to your drink. I personally don’t put ice in my refillable mug unless I am feeling a bit hot and bothered. More liquid in my mug in my eyes is more value from my refillable mug.
Keep an Eye Out for Drinks Machines on Your Resort
At some resorts you will find coke machines located around the various buildings. We found this when staying at Caribbean Beach Resort. The good thing about these machines is that they are for use with your resort mug and they offer various flavors of Coke drinks. My particular favorite was a lime flavoured coke.
Water Park Refillable Mugs
You can buy Disney refillable mugs when at the Walt Disney World Water Parks too. To get good value we purchase just the one and share it. You can refill it at the various drink stations located at quick service points and they are good if you are going to be spending a good part of the day at one of the water parks such as Blizzard Beach.
Disney World Refillable Mugs are Microwavable
When you take your Disney refillable mugs home do be aware that you can put them in the microwave if you need to warm something up. We often use ours if we are going on a long drive and I’ll have a coffee in my resort mug.
Disney World Refillable Mugs are not Leak Proof!
Do be aware that the mugs are not leak proof. If you tip them at an angle they will leak a little or sometimes quite a lot and need to be kept upright. Do be aware of this if you do plan on taking them into the parks, on Disney Transportation or keep them in a backpack or stroller.
Nice Souvenirs for Little Ones
The refillable mugs are nice souvenirs for your children. Our kids loved taking them home when they were younger and would use them all the time at home. I guess they are a nice reminder of a magical vacation.
Create Some Cupboard Space
If you are a frequent Walt Disney World visitors the resort mugs collection can soon start building up so make sure you have some cupboard space for them. We have a shelf of Disney World Resort mugs, Water Park mugs and Universal refillable mugs. Be warned ha ha.
