Disney’s Magical Express is to be discontinued and will end January 1st, 2022. This is yet another big change for guests to consider with Free Magic Bands for resort guests being discontinued and Extra Magic Hours also not coming back.
What is the Magical Express Service that is Closing?
Disney’s Magical Express is a complimentary service where Disney will pick up guests staying at a Disney World resort from Orlando International Airport and take them to their Disney resort. The service will also take you back to the airport at the end of your vacation.

What Does the Magical Express Operator Have to Say?
Mears who currently run the magical Express Service have since released the following statement:
“Walt Disney made us aware of their decision,” Mears spokesperson Roger Chapin said. “While we are disappointed Disney will no longer offer this service, we intend to continue offering transportation services between the airport and all area theme parks and hotels to meet the demand of our visitors now and in the future.”
High Speed Rail to Replace the Magical Express?
Back in November Brightline announce plans to build a station at Disney Springs for its near high speed rail service. This railway will provide a connection to Orlando Airport (MCO), and to South Florida. Although not officially announced many feel this is the main reason for the Magical Express to close. There are also the financial savings for Disney too.

Disney’s Magical Express to be Discontinued – Our Thoughts
Disney’s Magical Express has been in operation for 15 years. We personally have found it to be a great service to get to your Disney World resort. With Luggage and young children to look after the Magical Express provided us with an easy and fairly relaxed solution to get to our resort after a long flight. We will certainly miss the service.
