Disney World Vacation Options
Let’s take a look at what I consider to be the main options when it comes too how many days to spend at Disney World. This might be a full Disney World vacation or part of a wider Florida/Orlando based vacation.
The Full Disney World Experience (around 14 days)
Great for anyone on their first Disney World Vacation and International Guest.
This option is the one I recommend especially if you are an international guest. Spending 2 weeks at Disney World allows you to immerse yourself not just into the parks but across the whole resort. 2 weeks allows you to tour the parks with ease and enjoy the resorts, dining, water parks and Disney Springs.
A Week at Disney World (7 days)
Great for anyone who has already been to Disney World.
A full week at Disney World allows you to enjoy all the parks pretty much but you might have to miss out on a few things unless you plan to hit the parks hard and really plan your days. 7 days allows you to have one full day at each park and then a further 3 days to focus on visiting your favorite parks and enjoying your favorite attractions too. Park hopping will probably be required to fully make the most of your 7 days at Disney World.
Part of a Florida Adventure (10 to 14 days)
Great for a family with teenagers that want to see all of Orlando.
For many families’ visiting Disney World, it is part of a bigger Florida vacation involving other resorts such as Universal and probably staying offsite. This is great for family’s that have visited Disney World on multiple vacations but not the best option if you are a big Disney Fan who really wants to get the most out of Disney World.
This is probably a good option for a family with older children/teenagers who want to enjoy everything Orlando has to offer and not just Disney.
The Short Stay (3 to 5 days)
Great for anyone fairly local to Disney World.
A short stay of 3 to 5 days is ideal for anyone that can get to Disney World fairly easy and who might be quite local and within an easy driving distance to Orlando. This means you can easily visit Disney World multiple times a year and when you do visit you can enjoy the parks knowing you can return to do anything you feel that you have missed.
How Many Days to Do Everything at Magic Kingdom?
A minimum of 2 full days but we would go for 3 days to give you plenty of time. We usually spend 2 weeks at Disney World, and this gives us lots of time to enjoy all the parks. As well as the attractions you have other shows to consider such as Happily Ever After – the evening fireworks spectacular.
Magic Kingdom:
I want to do everything: 3 Days
I want to do most things: 2 Days
Limited for time: 1 Day
You can find the Best Rides and Shows at Magic Kingdom here.
How Many Days to Do Everything at Epcot?
To do Epcot fully where you experience Future World and World Showcase to the fullest, we would say a minimum of 3 days. There is so much to explore and see at World Showcase that you can easily spend 2 days just enjoying the various foods and drink on offer. There is also the rides to consider such as Soarin, Test Track and Frozen Ever After.
Epcot:
I want to do everything: 3 Days
I want to do most things: 2 Days
Limited for time: 1 Day
You can find the Best Rides and Shows at Epcot here.
How Many Days to Do Everything at Hollywood Studios?
Whilst it was under major construction you could do Hollywood Studios in a day, but we would now recommend 2 days to do everything. You now have Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge pulling in the crowds as well Toy Story Land and other new attractions such as Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway.
Hollywood Studios:
I want to do everything: 2 Days
I want to do most things: 1 Day
Limited for time: Half Day
You can find the Best Rides and Shows at Hollywood Studios here.
How Many Days to Do Everything at Animal Kingdom?
With the addition of Pandora in recent years we would recommend 2 days to really enjoy Animal Kingdom. You may be able to squeeze a lot into one day, but we like to allow plenty of time without making things too stressful (and again we always have longer Disney World Vacations). Two days should allow for you to see and do the Animal Kingdom Must Do Activities.
Animal Kingdom:
I want to do everything: 2 Days
I want to do most things: 1 Day
Limited for time: Half Day
How Many Days to Do Everything at the Disney World Water Parks?
We have always treated both Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon as half day experiences. You may find that at certain times of the year only one water park will be open whilst the other undergoes maintenance (usually during the winter months). We have always spent half a day at one of the Water Parks at the weekend when the parks are at their busiest.
Blizzard Beach: Half Day
Typhoon Lagoon: Half Day

What About Disney Springs?
Disney Springs is Disney World’s shopping and dining district. If you need some retail therapy, there is a large variety of stores from designer and sport brands to Disney based stores such as the huge World of Disney. Disney Springs has lots of great dining options too making it a good location to end the day with dinner and enjoy the evening entertainment on offer too. You can easily spend from half a day to a full day at Disney Springs depending on what you want to do.
I want to do a lot of shopping and dining: 1 Day
I want to see what Disney Springs has to offer: Half Day
You can find out our favorite Disney World Shopping Locations here.
Other Things to Consider at Disney World
You might also want to see or dine at some of the Disney World Resorts. We love visiting some of the deluxe resorts when close to Magic Kingdom such as the Grand Floridian and the Contemporary Resort. There are also lots of dining options to try across the resorts too, so this is something else to consider.
You might also want to consider a rest day too. A rest day is usually helpful if you have very young children in your family.
