What Rides are at Epcot

My Guide To All The Rides at Epcot

(Last Updated On: December 15, 2023)

In this post we are going to look at all the rides at Epcot in 2023. A complete guide to all the Disney World Epcot rides in the park to give you an overview of what to expect during your Disney World Vacation.

Epcot was the second theme park to open at Walt Disney World back in 1982 (as EPCOT Center). The original concept of Epcot (Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow) was to be a planned experimental community which was the brainchild of Walt Disney himself.

Following Walt’s death in 1966 the concept of Epcot was changed in the 70’s to become a theme park following the opening and growing popularity of Magic Kingdom. The park would keep the idea of being based around modern innovation along with adding a permanent showcase of the world’s cultures.

Disney World’s Epcot is a Huge Park with Some Rides Quite Far From Each Other

Be warned Epcot is a huge park, it is really two parks in one. Expect to do a lot of walking. What was called Future World (now World Celebration, World Discovery and World Nature) opens fully as soon as the park does usually at 9am with World Showcase opening later in the morning at 11am although Frozen Ever After in Norway opens at 9am too along with Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure.

Find Out More About Epcot:

Ongoing Construction to Future World

Future World is changing in a big way over the next few years. It will be transforming into 3 new areas: World Celebration, World Discovery and World Nature.

Because of this expect lots of constructions walls throughout what was Future World along with diversion pathways to steer the crowds around all the ongoing major works in the park. When visiting Epcot, you can see a full preview of what is to come at the Epcot Experience in the Odyssey Pavilion next to Test Track.

Sadly, the events of 2020 has slowed down the progress at Epcot. We wouldn’t anticipate these works at Epcot to finished until some time in 2023 at the earliest.

What Epcot Rides and Attractions are at Disney World in 2023?

If you haven’t been to Epcot yet you may want to know more about the actual rides that are in the park. There are currently nine rides at Epcot with seven of them in Future World, two in World Showcase and two currently in development. Let’s take a look at the rides to help you with your Disney World planning.

What Rides are in Epcot’s Future World at Disney World

Journey into Imagination with Figment

Height Restriction: Guests can be any height

Take a journey through the Imagination institute with Dr Nigel Channing and Figment in this omni mover dark ride. You are taken through the five sensory labs to discover how our senses capture the imagination where Figment gets involved and causes mischief.

Journey into Imagination with Figment

Towards the end of the ride you travel through figments upside down house and the end of the ride features the song ‘One Little Spark’. I never experienced the earlier versions of this ride, but I do find this ride enjoyable. A great ride for smaller kids.

Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival

Show Attraction

Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival

This is a very enjoyable collection of Disney and Pixar shorts that are shown in 3D. You will usually find that you will get to see a fun 3D Mickey Mouse short followed by some wonderful Pixar short. This is usually an easy show to get into and is very enjoyable too.

Living with the Land

Height Restriction: Guests can be any height

Take a gentle boat ride in this combined dark ride and green house tour. This ride located in the Land pavilion is all about agriculture with the dark ride sections focusing on how nature and the environment affects land.

Living with the Land

You travel through a rain forest, a desert and the American prairie before heading into the greenhouse section. There are five areas to the greenhouse (the Tropics Greenhouse, Aqua-cell, Temperate Greenhouse, String Greenhouse and Creative Greenhouse) where you can see how Disney grow their own plants and crops using methods like hydroponics.

At the end of the ride there is a huge screen showing you footage of people across the world and their methods of agriculture. A very educational ride with no thrills but I always find it interesting especially the green houses.

Mission: SPACE

Height Restriction: Guests must be 40 inches or taller

Mission: SPACE

Mission: SPACE is a simulator ride where your party of up to four people will pilot a shuttle into space. There is a green mission and an orange mission. Green is the easier version of the ride and Orange is the more intense version where you will get spun around a bit and experience some G Force.

Mission: SPACE Green Mission Card

The simulator vehicle is very confined so if anyone in your party doesn’t like enclosed spaces this may not be the ride for them. I always ride the green version as I do get a bit of motion sickness and having been on the orange version once I personally didn’t feel too great getting off. The wife and kids though will happily ride the orange version and do enjoy it.

You will get some training via a short film before you get to the simulator vehicle and this is where you will be assigned a role such as engineer or navigator. During the ride you will have to undertake some basic roles like pushing buttons as they flash and holding the control stick.

You need to be at least 40 inches tall for the green version of the ride and 44 inches tall for the orange version. If you don’t mind enclosed spaces and don’t suffer from motion sickness give the orange version a go if like me and you do suffer a bit from motion sickness go with the green version.

The Seas with Nemo and Friends

Height Restriction: Guests can be any height

The Seas wirh Nemo and Friends - Disney World Epcot Rides
The Seas with Nemo and Friends

Another gentle dark ride where you climb aboard a clamobile and enter a big blue world. Featuring all the main characters with from Finding Nemo using screen technology and some animatronics this is a nice easy ride for all the family to enjoy as you try to find Nemo with Marlin and Dory. A nice ride for all the family.

SeaBase

Aquarium Attraction

SeaBase is the main building that The Seas with Nemo and Friends is located inside. This is an aquarium attraction where you can see a large variety of different sea creatures such as sea turtles, dolphins and angelfish. It is definitely worth having a look around SeaBase when you come off the Nemo ride.

Turtle Talk with Crush

Show Attraction

This 15 minute screen based show allows the audience to interact live with Crush and features some familiar faces from the Finding Nemo movies too. This is a great little sit down show if you have young children. It will keep them entertained and you can sit down and take a break at the same time too.

Soarin’ Around the World

Height Restriction: Guests must be 40 inches or taller

Soarin’ Around the World

One of the tier 1 rides at Epcot and it is hugely popular. You will probably need a lightning lane for this or you need to get to it straight from rope drop otherwise you will probably be waiting in line for a while.

Take a hand glider tour of the world taking in the Great Wall of China, Sydney Harbour and the Taj Mahal just to name a few of the sights. Soarin’ is a big screen flight motion simulator and it is a lot of fun.

You need to be 40 inches tall to ride so that is something to consider if you have younger children as you may need to do a rider swap. Being a tier 1 attraction if you have this as a fast pass you can’t book one for Test Track or Frozen Ever After on the same day. Definitely a ride to experience during your Disney World Holiday.

Spaceship Earth

Height Restriction: Guests can be any height

The focal point of Epcot and one of my favorite dark rides at Disney World. Travel through time in this omnimover ride from early man to the modern day and learn about our technological advances through the centuries.

Spaceship Earth - Disney World Epcot Rides

Narrated by Dame Judi Dench this is a long ride which can make for a nice break from the park (especially on a hot busy day) and features some nice touch screen interactions early on which will give you a glimpse of your future at the end of the ride. In my opinion a ride you definitely must have a go on as it is a classic Disney dark ride. I love it.

Test Track

Height Restriction: Guests must be 40 inches or taller

Test Track -Disney World Epcot Rides

Take a high-speed journey in a six-person simulation car. Test Track is a lot of fun. Hit speeds of over sixty miles per hour on the track but before that you need to design your own virtual vehicle. During the wait for the ride you are taken into the Chevrolet Design Center where you design your vehicle using a big touch screen display.

Your car will then get tested for Capability, Responsiveness, Efficiency and eventually Power (the really fun fast part of the ride). The ride is part indoor where you experience rough terrain and dodge obstacles before hitting the outdoor power test where you really feel some speed. Test Track is another tier 1 ride so again a fast pass maybe needed or a dash from rope drop to avoid a long wait time.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

Height Restriction: Guests must be 42 inches or taller

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is the newest big thrill ride to open at Disney World and is attracting huge crowds to Epcot.

Expect a story telling roller coaster experience with the thrills of a rotating ride vehicle combined with show sequences. The standby line is a science museum style building with a pre-show that involves a video edutainment section that gets interrupted by the Guardians of the Galaxy prior to you boarding the ride vehicle. This is also a reverse launch coaster, the first of its type at Walt Disney World.

The ride vehicles spin to keep the riders focused on each part of the rides story.

What Rides are in World Showcase at Epcot

Frozen Ever After

Norway Pavilion

Height Restriction: Guests can be any height

Frozen Ever After - What Rides are at Epcot World Showcase

Formerly the Maelstrom ride in Norway. Frozen Ever After takes you on a journey through Arendelle on a boat in this very popular dark ride (another one!). Using state of the art animatronics you will meet Olaf, visit Elsa in her Ice Palace as well coming across Anna and Kristoff.

There is one small drop towards the end of the ride where you might get wet but in general this is another fairly gentle ride.

If you have kids that are fans of Frozen then they will love it. Another tier 1 ride so again decisions need to be made about fast passes or rope drop dashes first thing in the morning. This ride is the furthest away from the main entrance at the front of Epcot what with it being in the Norway pavilion section of World Showcase. Be prepared for a bit of a walk if you are heading to Frozen first.

Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros

Mexico Pavilion

Height Restriction: Guests can be any height

Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros - What Rides are at Epcot World Showcase

Located inside the Mexico building on World Showcase take a boat ride through Mexico as Jose and Panchito chase Donald Duck. A fun ride for all the family using screen technology as well as animatronics. The Gran Fiesta Tour is a nice ride that features famous Mexican landmarks whilst featuring the Three Caballeros. Usually on a normal day you can pretty much walk straight on to this ride.

Wondrous China

China Pavilion

Show Attraction

China Pavilion

This new circle-vision 360 film replaces Reflection of China. This completely new film will be shown in seamless 360-degree format with new music too. This film will celebrate the natural beauty of china along with its people.

The American Adventure

America Pavilion

Show Attraction

The American Adventure

Benjamin Franklin and Mark Twain take you in a journey through America’s past in this 30 minute show featuring animatronics, music and film. I always enjoy this show and it is a great opportunity to sit down for half an hour away from the sun. A nice way to relax while you enjoy and learn about the story of America.

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure

France Pavilion

Ratatouille is has come to France at the World Showcase. The ride is very similar to Ratatouille ride that is already at Disneyland Paris. You are shrunk down and chased through the kitchen of Gusteau’s Parisian restaurant.

The ride is a 4D trackless dark ride and looks a lot of fun. I am very much looked forward to trying it prior to our last Disney World vacation and I can report it a really fun ride.

This new attraction opened on Oct 1 2021 for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary.

Impressions De France

France Pavilion

Show Attraction

A 200 degree widescreen film that takes you on a journey through France. Featuring music from French composers this film last around 18 to 20 minutes.

Canada Far and Wide

Canada pavilion

Show Attraction

Canada pavilion

The second circle-vision show on World Showcase and like the show in China this is a tour of the sights and landmarks of Canada. This new circle-vision 360 film will start showing in early 2020. The new movie will have brand new scenes and a new story replacing the long running O’ Canada film featuring Martin Short.

What Rides and Attractions are Coming Soon to Epcot at Disney World

Over the next few years Epcot is being updated with what Disney are calling a “multi-year transformation”. Let’s take a look at what could be in store.

Moana: Journey of Water

Moana: Journey of Water

We do not expect to see the interactive water trail Moana: Journey of Water to open in 2022. It was being reported that this attraction maybe be shelved but reports still suggest that this is still part of the update plans that are ongoing at Epcot.

The Play Pavilion

The Play Pavilion

The former Wonders of Life building will be transformed in the Play Pavilion which may potentially open in late 2023. The Play Pavilion will offer a hands-on play experience with activities and Disney character meet n greets.  The theme of the Play Pavilion will be a futuristic metropolis.

My Favorite Rides at Epcot 2023

My favorite Disney World Epcot Rides are Spaceship Earth and Test Track.

I Love Spaceship Earth

I love Spaceship Earth it has that feel of a classic Disney Ride. It’s not a short ride and the interactive touch screen elements in the ride vehicle are fun too. My wife enjoys it as it is a gentle 15-minute rest from the park and we can kick back a little bit in the back of the ride vehicle whilst the kids have fun in the front row.

A little tip when it comes to Spaceship Earth is it usually easier to get on later on in the day when the crowds are more spread out across the park. We have on numerous occasions walked straight on later in the evening normally during a weekday though.

Test Track is Fun

I also really enjoy Test Track too. As a family of four it has a competitive element too it as we pair up, we try to design the best vehicle before boarding the ride. Both my Son and Daughter love the touch screen design aspect whilst you wait for the ride.

The ride itself is fun too, the part where you have to dodge the oncoming lorry and 60 mph run outside is great fun and feels a lot faster than it really is.

I also love that you get to see a small part of the back lot too when you are on the ride. We almost always have to use a Fastpass to ride Test Track, but I still enjoy it so much every time.

What Rides are at Epcot in Disney World

Rides at Epcot Guide 2023

So, there you go all the current Disney World Epcot rides and show attractions in 2023 . Epcot has a lot of very enjoyable rides but offers a lot more. Especially with all the interesting countries to explore around World Showcase.

Depending on which time of year you go there are the various festivals that are held throughout the year too such as the Flower and Garden Festival, the Food and Wine Festival and the Festival of the Arts. Don’t expect to see all of Epcot in one day but however long you spend there fun is definitely guaranteed.
