Well, if this is one of your plans when you visit Galaxy’s Edge you will probably want to consider one of the many Legacy Lightsabers available to purchase at both Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort. Let’s take a look at where to find them and a full list of all Legacy Lightsabers available.

More on Star Wars at Disney World:

What is a Star Wars Legacy Lightsaber

A legacy lightsaber is one that has been used by a Star Wars Jedi or Sith Lord. This might be a Lightsaber used in one of the many Star Wars movies or in a TV Show or even video game. The Star Wars Universe is quite big nowadays especially with the popularity of the Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett TV series on Disney Plus.

It is a Lightsaber that already exists and belongs to a character, for example Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader.

Each legacy lightsaber hilt comes in a plastic storage/display box. Blades, stands, belt clips and other accessories are sold separately so do bear that in mind before buying Legacy Lightsabers at Galaxy’s Edge.

Can I Make My Own Legacy Lightsaber at Galaxy’s Edge?

You can construct a custom Lightsaber of your own design at Savi’s Workshop which is located in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge at both Walt Disney World Resort (Hollywood Studios) and Disneyland Resort. These lightsabers however are not classed as Legacy Lightsabers.

Legacy Lightsabers are accurate replicas of those used by Star Wars Characters on screen.

Where Can I Buy a Legacy Lightsaber at Galaxy’s Edge?

Dok-Ondars Den of Antiquities where you purchase lightsabers
Dok-Ondars Den of Antiquities

You can buy your very own lightsaber from Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities again located in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge in both Disney resorts (Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort and at Disneyland Resort). Dok-Ondars is a great shop full of unusual Star Wars collectibles such as clothes, statues, and art.

You can also buy Kyber Crystals from Dok-Ondars. The very crystals that powers a Jedi’s or Sith’s lightsaber. This is a great location for unique Star Wars items that you don’t normally see for sale.

The shop is also full of great props from Star Wars helmets, unusual creatures to Dok-Ondar himself. You can see Dok-Ondar in the shop keeping a check of his sales. The character is a great animatronic that is worth taking some time out to see when in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge.

Do I have to Visit Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge to Buy One?

No if you are visiting Florida, you can also sometimes find a range of Legacy Lightsabers at the Star Wars Trading Post located at Disney Springs. Some guests see this as being unfair as one of the benefits originally promoted for Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge was the merchandise would not be found outside of the park.

This is still the case with many items found in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge but not the legacy Lightsabers. You can even find a small range of lightsabers on Amazon.

The Legacy Lightsabers prices range from $129.99 and £199.99. The price all depends on the Lightsaber itself as some designs are bigger than others. Some Lightsabers also have more detailed designs than others that can have impact the price.

Do Galaxy’s Edge Legacy Lightsabers Sell Out?

The collectible and limited edition sets often sell out due to quantities of only 3000 being released. This is notable with the Skywalker Legacy Set that sold out back in 2021. Star Wars collecting is very popular and with such a large fanbase many items can quickly sell out including lightsabers.

My Favorite Legacy Lightsabers

Below are my favorites from this popular range. In fact, I will most probably buy one for my Star Wars collection when I visit Disney World this year. I came very close on my last trip and regretted not getting a Darth Vader Legacy Lightsaber Hilt for displaying at home.

Darth Vader Legacy Lightsaber

Galaxy's Edge Star Wars Legacy Lightsaber (Darth Vader) Silver

Darth Vader is my favorite Star Wars character, so I have to pick his lightsaber. The design of Vader’s lightsaber is iconic with it black and chrome hilt. It is an iconic piece of pop culture that many Star Wars collectors would want in their collection. One of the most iconic Legacy Lightsaber Hilts too in my opinion.

Luke Skywalker Legacy Lightsaber

Galaxy's Edge Star Wars Legacy Lightsaber (Luke Skywalker)

You can’t have Darth Vader’s Lightsaber without also picking Luke Skywalker’s. However, I am going to pick Luke’s Lightsaber from Return of the Jedi. This is the lightsaber that Luke constructed himself following his Jedi training from Yoda and losing his father’s old lightsaber (and hand) in the Empire Strikes Back in his first battle with his then revealed Dad Darth Vader.

Ahsoka Tano Legacy Lightsaber

Ahsoka Tano is a great character from the Clone Wars series that also appeared in Season 2 of the Mandalorian. What I love is that she wields two lightsabers making her Legacy set a double set of two lightsabers in one box. This is another set I would be very tempted to buy especially as she also has white blades which isn’t seen often from the Jedi in Star Wars.

Legacy Lightsaber Alternatives

If the total cost of a Legacy Lightsaber with its blade and other accessories seems a bit much (you could be looking at around $250 in total) then you might want to consider a cheaper alternative.

Throughout the Hollywood Studios stores, Disney Springs and Downtown Disney at Disneyland you will find Star Wars Black Series Lightsabers for sale. The Black Series range offers a complete Lightsaber (which can’t be taken apart) with a screen accurate hilt along with the illuminated blade and sound effects.

Star Wars: The Black Series Luke Skywalker Force FX Lightsaber

You will often find Black Series Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren Lightsabers for sale as well as some other designs too. You can also find these on Amazon, you can take a look at the range here.
