The Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is located on Sunset Boulevard, one of the main thoroughfares at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This area of the park is designed to look like a bustling Hollywood street, complete with iconic landmarks and famous movie theaters. Queue

The queue for the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is a combination of indoor and outdoor areas. Although it doesn’t have an interactive queue, the theming is impressive. There’s even a pre-show featuring Aerosmith, as well as actress Ileana Douglas and actor Ken Marino.

I love Aerosmith but the theme and story of this ride is a lot of fun with Aerosmith offering you a limo ride and backstage passes (during your time in the standby line) to their concert downtown.

Rider Switch and Single Rider

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster offers both the Rider Switch and Single Rider options. The Rider Switch allows guests with small children to take turns riding bigger attractions, while another person stays with the child. The Single Rider Line, on the other hand, allows guests to ride alone, bypassing the Standby Line.

Ride Vehicles

Each ride vehicle is designed like a limo, fitting 24 guests. Two guests can sit side-by-side in each row and are secured by over-the-head harnesses that rest on the shoulders and waist.

A High-Speed Adventure through Los Angeles

Once on the roller coaster, visitors will experience a heart-pumping, high-speed adventure through the streets of Los Angeles. The roller coaster features a powerful launch that will take visitors from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds. The ride also includes intense loops, sharp turns, and heart-stopping drops that will have visitors on the edge of their seats.

A Journey through the Music of Aerosmith

The Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster features a powerful soundtrack that includes some of Aerosmith’s biggest hits. From “Walk This Way” to “Sweet Emotion,” visitors will be treated to a musical journey that will have them singing along and tapping their feet. The soundtrack is synchronized perfectly with the ride, creating a truly immersive experience that combines the excitement of a roller coaster with the energy of a rock concert.

For those in the know, the license plates on the ride vehicles are a fun Easter egg, indicating which songs will play during your ride. The key to decoding the license plates is as follows:

  • 1QKLIMO – “Nine Lives”
  • 2FAST4U – “Sweet Emotion”
  • BUHBYE – “Young Lust”; “F.I.N.E.”; “Love in an Elevator”
  • H8TRFFC – “Back in the Saddle”; “Dude Looks Like a Lady”
  • UGOBABE – “Love in an Elevator” (Rollercoaster); “Walk This Way”

Is Rock n Roller Coaster Kid-Friendly?

While the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is one of the bigger thrill rides at Walt Disney World, it may not be suitable for younger children. The coaster goes from 0 to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds and features two loops and one corkscrew. The ride takes place in the dark and is fast and intense, so it’s recommended to try an easier coaster first.
