Anyone that has a wonderful vacation at Walt Disney World will know that Disney withdrawal (otherwise known as Disney depression) is real and can affect us in many ways. From that first step onto the Tragical Express to boarding your return flight at Orlando International Airport until your first step back onto Disney World property (when you do return) Disney withdrawal will be with you.
Let’s explore Disney withdrawal and the best ways to cope with it.
What is Disney Withdrawal?
Before every trip has even ended I can feel the onset of Disney withdrawal or as I call it Disney depression setting in. For me it normally begins around three or four days before the vacation ends and I can especially feel it when we have visited a park for the last time. For others it may not begin until you are on your journey home or even back home itself. As with any vacation we know they have to end but with a Disney World vacation it hits especially hard.
Disney withdrawal is the feeling of wanting to be in the most magical place on earth with the glorious sunshine, food and smells as well as quality family time together that makes Disney withdrawal quite prominent for some people.
There are some ways to cope to help ease that Disney withdrawal until your next Walt Disney World vacation.

Edit, Print and Display Those Photos
One thing we all do on a Walt Disney World vacation is to take photos be it on your smartphone, camera or even using the Disney memory maker package.
Editing your photos to be displayed in a frame or album is a great way to relive those memories and even remind you of things you may have forgotten.
You can find some great Disney Photo Albums on Amazon here.
Enjoy Those Disney Souvenirs
We love a Disney souvenir and making sure you pick the right ones to be used back home can really help with that Disney withdrawal.
Choose items that can be used everyday, have a drink in your Disney mug and use that water bottle whilst out and about, at school or work or even at your fitness classes. Pens, pencils and notebooks are another great way for those souvenirs to be used daily.
Clothing such as spirit jerseys, hoodies and T-shirt’s are a good option to wear either out and about or for snuggling in at home enjoying a Disney film.
Enjoy Left over Disney Snacks
If like us you end up bringing your body weight back in Disney snacks and food this can really help with the Disney withdrawal effect. Enjoying those cookies, sweets and chocolates reminds you of your vacation and spacing them out throughout the weeks, months or even the year will allow you to have that Disney fix regularly (but make sure you check those expiry dates you don’t want them to be out of date).
This is a great way to try some different snacks that you may need to add to your list for the next visit.
Cook Disney Inspired Food
To attempt to recreate those most enjoyed meals and snacks from your trip can really help with Disney withdrawal. Each decide what your favorite meal or snack was and using recipe books like the one below (that can be found on Amazon by clicking the image) or recipes on the internet and have a go at cooking these up.
Make sure you have any Mickey shaped equipment that you may need as any food tastes better Mickey shaped right? You can find some on Amazon by clicking the image below.
