Disney Genie Plus Animal Kingdom Rides – Is Avatar on Genie Plus?
Here are the Animal Kingdom attractions that are available for Genie+. Do be aware that Avatar Flight of Passage is a paid Lightning Lane attraction.. Flight of Passage is an individual Lightning Lane attraction, this means you will either need to wait in the standby queue to ride or purchase an individual Lightning Lane for the attraction.

Top Genie Plus Attraction Picks for Animal Kingdom
Well, you can only make one reservation at a time with Disney Genie at Animal Kingdom so aim to ride your favorite attractions over separate days during your Disney World vacation. This makes Disney Genie Plus easier to manage now if you can visit Animal Kingdom over multiple days with a multi day ticket.
Below are my attraction picks for using Genie Plus at Animal Kingdom.
Like Flight of Passage Navi River Journey is still popular attraction in the Pandora area of Animal Kingdom. For this reason I would use Disney Genie+ to ride the Navi River Journey attraction and save some time from waiting in the standby line during the day.
Do be aware that you can get on Navi River Journey from rope drop if you get to Animal Kingdom early in the morning.
2. Kilimanjaro Safaris
Kilimanjaro Safaris is one of my favorite rides at Animal Kingdom. Wait times in the standby lane can go up and down but if you are going to purchase Disney Genie+ then definitely look to make a reservation for this really fun safari tour.
3. DINOSAUR
At times it can be very easy to get on Dinosaur but if you are visiting Animal Kingdom on a busy day and using Disney Genie+ then it will be worth making a reservation for this attraction. It is a lot fun and a little scary but is definitely worth riding.
4. Kali River Rapids
It is worth considering using a Disney Genie+ reservation for Kali River Rapids on a hot and busy day in the park. To be able to skip the standby line and get straight to the water ride will be beneficial for anyone looking to get wet on a hot day at Animal Kingdom.

Is Avatar Flight of Passage Worth it as a Paid Lightning Lane?
This is entirely up to you, but I would consider using the paid individual lightning lane for Avatar Flight of Passage. This is especially the case if you are not staying on property at Disney World and might have limited time at Animal Kingdom.
Flight of Passage is still a very popular ride, and most guests will head straight to the attraction from rope drop. Having said that if you are in the park just before it closes then you may be able to get on the ride fairly quickly just by using the standby line rather than Disney Genie at Animal Kingdom. You will need to be in the park though very close to its closing time to do this.

What is Disney Genie Plus?
Disney Genie Plus is the new paid system to get access to rides and attractions faster in the Disney World Parks. Disney Genie Plus in simple terms is a paid FastPass system. It will cost you $15 dollars per day, per person.
You can buy Disney Genie Plus through the My Disney Experience App at the beginning of each day to make Lightning Lane reservations during your day at Animal Kingdom or the other parks.
How much does Disney Genie Plus Cost?
Prices may vary but generally you will looking at the costs below:
- Multiple Disney World Parks: $23/person
- Magic Kingdom: $23/person
- Hollywood Studios: $21/person
- EPCOT: $17/person
- Animal Kingdom: $15/person
How to use Disney Genie Plus?
After paying for Disney Genie Plus you can make your first reservation at 7am the same day. You can then make another reservation 2 hours after official park opening. This usually means that as most parks officially open at 9am you can make a reservation at 11am.
You can them make aanother reservation after you have used your current reservations. Like the old FastPass system demand will affect what lighting lanes are available during your day in the park.
What Are Lightning Lanes?
Lightning Lanes are basically what used to be called FastPass reservations. When using Genie+ you will make Lightning Lane reservations and as with the old system when it is time to ride you will tap your MagicBand, Pass or smartphone to enter the attractions Lightning Lane which is separate to the normal standby line. All of the Lightning Lanes are the old FastPass lines for pretty much all attractions.
There are a few attractions in each park however where you have to pay for individual Lightning Lanes. You will find out more about those below.
Do I Have To Buy Disney Genie Plus To Access The Individual Lightning Lanes?
No, any attractions that have individual Lightning Lanes can be purchased on their own without having to pay for the full Genie+ service.
Do I Get To Choose My Lighting Lane Return Time?
No, you have to choose from the times that are available on the day. This is exactly the same as the old FastPass system.
Can You Arrive Early or Late for Your Lightning Lane?
Yes, you can normally arrive 5 minutes early for your allocated Lightning Lane. You also normally have around 15 minutes grace for arriving late. It is always worth talking to a Cast Member though if you are running late beyond the 15 minute period.
Do I Need to Buy Disney Genie Plus in Advance?
No, you can buy Disney Genie Plus on each day where you decide you want to use it. Do be aware though that some travel agents might offer it to you as part of a Disney World resort vacation package.
I was offered Disney Genie Plus on our last vacation package at half price, 14 days for the price of 7 days. I decided to take the offer up.
Does Genie+ Take into Account Dining Reservations?
Genie+ will allow you to book lightning lanes that will clash with dining reservation. So you will need to be aware of what your plans are for the day and not double booking dining and Lightning Lane reservations.
What If You Don’t Use Genie Plus at Animal Kingdom?
If you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort our top tip would be to make full use of the Extra 30 minutes early park entry as you can get into the park before it opens for all guests. You should be able to get on the popular attractions with like Flight of Passage pretty quickly using the early park entry time. In the past we have headed straight to Expedition Everest and got to ride it multiple times first thing in the morning from rope drop.
If you are not staying on site, the best options will probably be heading to Pandora from the park opening or being in the park just before it is going to close when crowd levels are usually at their lowest. Over time it will become clearer what maybe the best tactic. Going late in the day usually works well if you plan to do some park hopping during the day before heading to Animal Kingdom.
