Which Disney World Park Has the Avatar Rides?
You will find the Disney World Avatar Rides in Animal Kingdom. The park has its own Avatar based land called Pandora – The World of Avatar. There are no other Avatar based rides in the other Disney Parks.
Pandora is a wonderful land is it wonderfully designed and it is truly like being in another world. There are strange plants, floating rock structures and background noises from another world. You won’t find find many more immersive lands like this in any theme parks.

How Many Avatar Rides at Animal Kingdom?
Disney’s Animal Kingdom has two Avatar rides: Flight of Passage and Navi River Journey. The rides are both based in Pandora the world of Avatar but are two very different experiences. One very calm and the other thrilling.
The Avatar Rides at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Let’s take a look at the Avatar Rides that you will find in the Pandora land.
Avatar Flight of Passage
Height Requirement: Guest must be 44in (112cm) or taller
The first ride is the most thrilling ride of the two and one of the most popular rides at Disney World. Flight of passage is a thrill ride that simulates riding a Banshee through the world of Pandora.
After climbing on the back of your ride vehicle that simulates a native winged mountain banshee, and being strapped onto this incredible animal, you’ll fly across the plains, and soar in between the peak of Pandora’s mountains in this fully immersive 3D flight simulator, that’ll push your imagination further than you ever thought possible.
Having said that, if you are prone to or suffer from motion sickness and you want to ride Flight Of Passage, you should probably pop a couple of Dramamine before you jump on the back of a banshee.

Is the Avatar Flight of Passage Ride Worth the Wait?
Flight of Passage is definitely worth the wait as it such a great ride and a wonderfully immersive experience. The lines for Flight of Passage can get very long so if you are planning to ride the attraction during the day you need to plan for it.
Tips for Riding Flight of Passage
One tip is to aim to head straight to Flight of Passage straight from rope drop when the park opens. This is an easy cost free way of getting on the ride easily. Do be aware though most other guests at Animal Kingdom will have exactly the same idea so make sure you get to the park with plenty of time to spare before it opens.
You can also try to ride the attraction just before the park closes. This is usually another time of day when the standby line time drops a lot. You do have to be in the park late though (depending on the park hours for the day).
Height Requirement: Guests can be any height to ride
A much more sedate and relaxed way to explore the jungles and forest of Pandora, the Na’vi River Journey, once you’ve climbed inside the boat take a leisurely trip down the Kasvapan river, during which you can meet all of the planet’s wildlife.
But the most breathtaking thing about this y “ride” (or attraction as the Imagineers prefer to refer to it), are the life-like audio-animatronics that you’ll bump into throughout your journey, and as you slip through the forest of a distant world, and they whisper and talk to you, you’ll convince yourself that each and every single one of them is real.
Exactly the same as Flight of Passage to ride aim for heading to the attraction from rope drop when the park opens and also just before the park closes at night.
Paying to Ride the Avatar Rides
Of course you can now pay for more access to the rides at Animal Kingdom (and all the Disney parks). You have two different options.
You can pay to use Disney Genie Plus at Animal Kingdom for the day of your visit. N’avi River Journey is included in the Disney Genie Plus package. This is basically a paid fast pass system that you can access through the My Disney Experience App.
Disney Genie costs $15 per day though and this still doesn’t guarantee access to the ride if all the available slots get taken quickly – which can happen.

Paying to Ride Avatar Flight of Passage
The Avatar Flight of Passage ride is different however as it is one of the top tier rides at Disney World. This means that to pay to ride this you can pay for an individual Lightning Lane which can cost up to around $15 depending on the time of year (at quieter times the cost should be lower).
Again, you can pay for this using the My Disney Experience App and accessing Disney Genie. When you are on the App you will be show what times are available and you can then choose the time that best suits you and then confirm your lightning lane.
Note: lightning lanes are the old FastPass lanes at WDW so if you have paid for a Lighting Lane or are using Disney Genie Plus head to the Old FastPass entrance which should now be renamed with a Lightning Lane sign.
