Are the Disney Value Resorts Basic?

Don’t be fooled into thinking that because they are named as “value resorts”, this group of hotels are basic and not be what you would expect from a Disney hotel, they are in fact far from any bog-standard hotel and boast many amenities.

The six different hotels at Walt Disney World that are classed as value resorts, many of which, excluding the Campgrounds at Fort Wilderness, are the only hotels on Disney World property that are “Disney” themed, by this I mean they are themed around some of the classic Disney movies and Disney characters.

There are six Walt Disney World Resorts that are in the value category;

  1. All-Star Movies
  2. All-Star Music
  3. All-Star Sports
  4. Art of Animation
  5. Pop Century
  6. Campsites at Fort Wilderness

1. All-Star Movies

The 101 Dalmatian area is home to 40 ft Pongo and 35 ft Perditta, the pups are all on the railings with paw prints and bones located throughout.  The Mighty Ducks area has giant hockey sticks, hockey masks, pucks and goals. The Love Bug – Herbie area has a larger than life Herbie figure, with tyres around the grounds. In the Fantasia area there are large brooms with buckets, nutcracker soldiers, ballerinas as well as the iconic sorcerer’s hat.

All-Star Movies Disney Value Resort Location

This Disney value resort complex (along with All-Star Music and All-Star Sports Disney value resorts) is located south of all the Disney parks, the closest park is Animal Kingdom and Blizzard Beach, Hollywood Studios is not much further on, with Magic Kingdom being the furthest park away.

All-Star Movies Value Resort Rooms

Set over five film inspired areas there are 1,920 rooms at approximately 260 sq. ft each, 96 of which are handicapped accessible and 960 that are connecting.  The maximum amount of people in one room is four, plus one child under three that would be expected to sleep in a crib.

Each of the five areas have 384 rooms each.  The theming of the area is continued into the room, with pictures on the walls and a border that reflects this.  The movie theme extends to popcorn shaped buckets and stars as light fixtures.

The guest rooms will either have 2 double sized beds or one king size.  Those with a king size bed are accessible for those with disabilities and will be made priority for those guests that need them.  Each of the rooms will have a refrigerator (great for keeping those snacks and drinks cool), telephone, wall mounted tv, a table and two chairs as well as an open closet area for hanging garments with shelves on top for additional storage.

The bathroom area continues the theming featuring tiles which are decorated with film reels and the stars on the shower curtain.  The tub (with an overhead shower) and toilet are separate from the vanity area with mirrors and sinks.

A decent sized lockable safe is also included to store wallets, money, passports etc.  Complimentary wi-fi is available in all the rooms as well as air conditioning. Bedding, towels and some toiletries are also included.

The rooms located in the Fantasia, Toy Story and 101 Dalmatians are of a higher price as they are considered preferred, closer to the food court and main pool.  If you prefer to stay in a quieter, lower foot fall area then the Herbie area would be the best.
